Actress Ashley Park has opened up about the reality of returning to work after suffering from septic shock in December 2023.

The Emily in Paris star was admitted to hospital with the life-threatening condition during a trip to Thailand.

She was travelling with her partner and co-star Paul Forman at the time.

She explained that a case of tonsillitis developed into critical septic shock which infected and affected several of her organs.

Park said she’s beyond grateful her health has improved since the beginning of the year.

However, returning to work on Emily in Paris has been understandably overwhelming.

Park told Harper’s Bazaar UK: “Filming was physically taxing in a way I hadn’t previously endured.

“But I had to stop gaslighting myself and be like, I’m allowed to feel this way. I’ll do the best I can in these stilettos and this latex skirt,” she quipped.

Despite the hurdles she has faced, Park said she is grateful she was able to work on this season.

“I can be proud when I watch this season and think about the amount of passion and hard work I put in just to be there.”

Park said her boyfriend Paul Forman helped get her through the worst moments of her medical emergency.

“I’ll do the best I can in these stilettos and this latex skirt”

She said he was there for all of the low moments and the horrifying days in multiple foreign hospitals.

Writing on Instagram, she said he was her rock during the most harrowing time of her life.

“Grateful most of all to Paul for being unconditionally by my side through all this. You calmed my fears and held me through ambulances, three foreign hospitals, a week in the ICU, scary ERs, countless scans and tests and injections, excruciating pain, and so much confusion all while we were alone on the other side of the world far from those we know.
