Two years ago, Ireland was sitting pretty at the top of the ‘Good Country Index’.
The index ranks the countries that contribute the most to the rest of the world relative to the GDPs of those countries.
In 2014, Ireland was at number one but now, Sweden has taken the crown from us and we have hurtled all the way down to the eleventh spot on the list.
We still came out looking pretty good considering there were 163 countries assessed in the index, but a ten-place fall? Yikes.
The index measures how respective countries contribute to ‘the common good’ around the globe.
Ireland performed best in the Climate section, and worst in the International Peace and Security section.
