
Ryan Cusack was fatally injured in an accident in Bruree, Co.Limerick, earlier today.
It is thought that the 17-year-old was cutting trees at his workplace, Enda Bolger Racing, when the tragic accident occurred.
The Irish Pony Club issued a statement: “Rest in peace 17 -year-old Ryan Cusack from County Limerick who was tragically killed this morning in an accident at Bruree.
Ryan was a regular and popular rider at horse and pony racing mainly on the North West circuit for a couple of seasons. Our sincerest condolences to all Ryan’s family and friends.”
The teenager was an up-and-coming jockey according to the Irish Mirror, having secured three rides this year on a horse named Phar and Away, trained by Enda Bolger and owned by JP McManus.
His body was removed to University Hospital Limerick for a post mortem.
In Dublin, a man died this morning after being trapped between machinery and a wall in Skerries, Co.Dublin.
A spokesman for the Health And Safety Authority said inspectors are investigating the incident.
