The mum-of-two's body was found near an IPAS centre by Waterloo Bridge on the outskirts of Clifden yesterday morning.
It is understood that she suffered severe neck injuries, according to reports.
Her body has been removed to Galway University Hospital, where a post-mortem examination will take place today, Friday, May 29th.
Gardaí stated that the results of the post-mortem examination "will assist in determining the course of the ongoing investigation".
A man, aged in his 30s, was arrested after the discovery of Masuma Sohrabi's body.
Gardaí are urging anyone with information to come forward.
Those with information are asked to contact Clifden Garda Station on 095 22500.
Witnesses can also contact the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any garda station.
Tributes have been paid to the beloved mum-of-two, who moved to Ireland in 2024.
One person wrote, "Poor woman, she came here to be safe, tragic. Thinking of her poor kids."
"To all who loved her, may she rest in peace. So very sorry for your loss," another wrote.
Masuma's children attended Scoil Mhuire in Clifden. The school issued a statement following her death, remembering her as "a member of our school family."
"We are writing to our school community at an incredibly sad and difficult time. We have become aware of the sudden and tragic passing of a member of our school family. Our hearts go out to her children, her family, and all those who loved her.”
