James Van Der Beek's ex-wife, Heather McComb, has gotten married, describing it as a 'special and a truly magical weekend' months after the actor's death.
Over three months ago, James Van Der Beek died on 11 February following a year-long battle with colorectal cancer.
Van Der Beek, best known for his lead role in Dawson's Creek, passed away peacefully, as his wife, Kimberly, said he ‘met his final days with courage, faith, and grace’.
Tributes poured in from friends, fans, and family across Hollywood as a GoFundMe was also set in place.
Among those was Van Der Beek's ex-wife, Heather McComb, who shared a photo of the two of them from early in their relationship. Alongside the photo, she wrote: "I sit here in immense gratitude for the special connection, friendship and love that James and I shared that has endured through decades."
Months after mourning his loss, McComb has now tied the knot again and remarried.
She married actor Scott Michael Campbell in Missoula, Montana, over the weekend. Posting a series of sweet wedding snaps to Instagram, she wrote: "Our hearts are full and humbled by all of the love that we are surrounded by. God is good.
"Thank you to all of our family and friends who travelled from all over the country to be with us."
McComb went on to thank all of those who helped put the wedding together, as Campbell said he was ‘beyond blessed’ to marry the ‘beautiful soul’.
Heather married James Van Der Beek back in 2003 before they filed for a divorce in 2010.
Their situation was described as having remained 'good friends' when their split was confirmed back in 2009.
Back in February, when Heather reacted to James' death, the Party of Five actor said she was ‘heartbroken’ and ‘especially heartbroken’ for ‘Kimberly, his beautiful children and his amazing family’.
“James was a beautiful soul filled with so much light, love, talent, humour, depth, sensitivity, knowledge and a deep love of God that shone through him,” McComb wrote.
“He shone so bright yet was so humble and human.”
Van Der Beek went on to marry Kimberly in 2010. Together they have six children: Olivia, 15, Joshua, 14, Annabel, 12, Emilia, 10, Gwendolyn, seven and Jeremiah, four.
McComb had written in February: “I know that James loved being a father so much, and oh how he loved Kimberly with his everything. True soulmates. How she showed up for him with such grace is so beautiful and something I will forever admire.
"James was a blessing to all who knew him, and because of his boldness to share his journey with the world so bravely, he is now a blessing to all."
