Sister of Rescue 116 victim shares a heartbreaking message two years after the crash

It has been two years since the accident.

On March 14th, 2017, four members of the Irish Coast Guard lost their lives. The died after their their Sikorsky S-92 helicopter crashed off the coast of Mayo. And now, almost exactly two years later, the sister of one of the victims has shared a heartwrenching post. Niamh Fitzpatrick lost her beloved sister Dara in the accident. She wrote on Twitter: “Two years ago today, I last saw my sister alive. I can still see us chatting & laughing, no idea it was our final moments together. Dara died 32 hours later." “The rest is noise. Love is what matters. Spend time with those you love. One day it will mean everything that you did.”

The remains of Dara Fitzpatrick and Mark Duffy were located near Blacksod Bay, while Paul Ormsby and Ciaran Smith tragically remain lost at sea. Niamh has previously opened up about the tragic loss of her brave sister, Dara. "It was horrific. I can remember the screams — and then we went into numbness... your system shuts down." "You have to drive to Mayo to collect her from the morgue to bring her home. We had to have her funeral. "You have to look after her son. My sisters and myself are guardians of her son. You have to get on with living your life. "I don’t believe that you get over something like that. I think you learn how to carry it."
