The couple married at the Hilton Chicago Oak Brook Hills Resort in Chicago on May 24th.
McEldowney won the Rose of Tralee in 2016.
At the time, she was dating a fireman who was working in Chicago. He couldn't make it to the Tralee event, according to RTÉ.
During the festival, McEldowney was introduced to her escort, John Slowey.
According to The Sun, the couple announced their engagement in August 2024.
For the wedding, McEldowney wore a Justin Alexander white wedding gown from Eva’s Bridal International, The Sun reports.
The dress features a stunning high neck, long train, and delicate ruching in the front.
The couple married in Chicago, and while they didn’t get married in Ireland, they made sure to include an Irish touch, as John’s parish priest flew down to say mass.
On Instagram, the wedding photographer, Joy, posted photos of the wedding, with the caption:
“I always say I have the sweetest couples—but Maggie and John, you two truly top the list. Kind, gracious, and full of heart… and if you don’t believe me, just ask the 300 friends and family members who flew in from all over the world to celebrate their love.”
“Every detail of the day was thoughtful and elegant, and let’s be honest—they both looked like absolute royalty.”
“But don’t let the elegance fool you—these two know how to throw a party! That dance floor? Packed. And they tore. it. up. Thanks to some killer music from the live band.”
"Thanks for letting me celebrate with you both!!! Congratulations again"
Huge congratulations to the Rose of Tralee newlyweds.
