15-year-old Abbie was visiting Burrow Beach with friends when she went missing after getting into the water for a swim.
Her body was then recovered following a search operation involving the gardaí, the Irish Coast Guard and Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) from Howth.
A Dublin City councillor and relative of Abbie said her parents "wish to thank everyone for their love and support at this difficult time".
"I was shocked and saddened to hear of the passing of Abbie Pepper in a tragic accident in Sutton yesterday.
"It was even more heartbreaking to find out we are related," he said.
He added that Abbie's family "now wish for privacy to grieve their daughter in peace".
A spokesperson for the RNLI, which helped administer casualty care on scene, said "the thoughts of everyone [in the organisation] are with the young girl's family and friends," per the BBC.
Funeral director Rom Massey & Sons said Abbie will be "sadly missed by her heartbroken family... school pals, relatives, neighbours and friends."
