Footage of a newborn baby girl found alive inside a plastic bag has been shared online by police.
The video depicts officers from the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office locate a plastic bag at the side of a road near a woodland area in Georgia, USA.
Members of the force carefully cut open the bag to rescue the newborn baby girl trapped inside. The baby cries as she is wrapped in a blanket and taken away by paramedics.
Police shared the video on their Facebook page in the hope of finding some information about the child’s mother, who they have been searching for since June 6.
The baby girl has since been named India.
“As of today, we are still receiving tips from across the country on the possible identity of Baby India,” said the department in a statement.
“We are happy to report that Baby India is thriving and is in the care of the Georgia Department of Family and Children Services.
“We release this footage in hopes to receive credible information on the identity of Baby India and to show how important it is to find closure in this case.”
The footage, which can be viewed below, has been shared on Facebook almost 5,000 times.
