Met Eireann issue status yellow rainfall warning for five counties

Jade Hayden

Great news of a Monday…

Met Eireann has issued a status yellow rain warning for five counties, confirming that this year’s Irish summer is well and truly Irish.

Galway, Leitrim, Mayo, Roscommon, and Sligo are facing heavy rainfall from today until tomorrow, with a risk of up to 40mm falling during that time.

There’s also a high chance of thunder across the entirety of Connacht, so if you were planning on heading out for a nice stroll this evening and happen to be residing in the west, you might want to rethink some things.

Sorry.

“Heavy or prolonged showers with the risk of thundery downpours could lead to rainfall accumulations of 25 to 40 mm over the period,” reads Met Eireann’s warning.

The status yellow warning is valid from today, Monday August 5 at noon until Tuesday August 6 at 6pm.

So plenty of time to get absolutely drowned out of it.

Despite this, temperatures remain quite high across the country with most counties enjoying between 19 and 21 degrees for the next couple of days.

Shame about the chronic downpour on its way.

Enjoy, guys.
