Med Student Cancels Virginity Auction Despite Getting a Winning Bid of $801,000

A 28-year old medical student, who described herself as a ‘Virgin Wh0re’, has decided to end an auction selling off her virginity.

Elizabeth Raine, who said she had never gotten around to losing her virginity after focussing solely on her studies, has blogged about her decision to call-off the auction:

“With the blessings of my management and the high bidders, I have decided to put a stop to this kerfuffle (to describe it nicely) and return my focus to my medical training,”

“At this point, I no longer care about the auction, at least not nearly enough. This was a very easy decision.”

Raine (a pseudonym the student uses to protect her real identity) says she still:

“Possess some spitefully strong beliefs about virginity, prostitution, and a woman’s right to do as she damned pleases, but school is my first priority (as it has been for my entire life).”

The Ph.D. student has admitted that although the plan was initially a way of getting as much money as she could, when her story escalated in the media she started realising how complex auctioning off your virginity really could be.

“In its initial stages, this project was about the money. I hoped to make it quickly and quietly and go about my life. It is no longer about the money. Instead, very broadly, it is about how society continues to exercise control over female sexuality by chaining it tightly to female morality.”

Reports suggest the student decided to abandon the auction after receiving few legitimate bids, with the highest bid of $801,000 coming from a person who refused to be vetted.
