Don’t get caught out.
A Netflix email scam appears to be doing the rounds among Irish users. It notifies people that their account has been cancelled and then asks if they would like to sign back up.
Ruairi Carroll, who works for TV3, has shared a screenshot of an email, warning people about the potential scam. The email’s layout, graphics and message are very convincing.
The email reads:
“Hi,
As you requested, we’ve cancelled your membership, effective from Saturday, 29th July 2017.
Obviously we’d love to have you back. If you change your mind, simply restart your membership to enjoy all the best TV programmes & films without interruption.”
It then prompts you to click on a ‘Restart Membership’ button.

We’ve reached out for Netflix for a comment on the emails and they’ve said:
“Phishing scams are, unfortunately, very common and often exploit well-known brands. Internet users should always be cautious when they receive an email request any personal information or credit card details.
Netflix guidance for security is here: www.netflix.com/securityIf you get an email that looks suspiciously like a phishing attempt, please let us know by forwarding it to [email protected].”
