According to reports, a baby was sadly found dead at a home in Co. Longford.
It is believed the baby was only a couple of weeks old at the time of their death.
The baby girl was discovered at a residential property on Sunday morning.
Her body has been removed from the scene and taken to the mortuary at Crumlin Children's Hospital.
Gardaí confirmed that a post-mortem examination is due to take place today, January 27th.
The State Pathologist and the Gardaí will conduct the post-mortem.
The results of the post-mortem will determine the course of the Garda investigation.
