Police reveal eerie final message sent from missing Aberdeen sisters

The search for two sisters who went missing in Aberdeen continues after almost two weeks.

The pair were seen crossing Victoria Bridge in the direction Aberdeen Boat Club.

Since their disappearance a major police operation has been underway.

Police Scotland have said that there is no evidence of the women leaving the immediate area and have claimed there is nothing to suggest 'suspicious criminal activity'.

Police Scotland have since revealed that the sisters made an earlier visit to the bridge where they were last seen.

CCTV shows Eliza and Henrietta spent five minutes at the footpath and the Victoria Bridge but did not engage with anyone else.

After visiting the bridge, the sisters made their way back through the city centre to their flat.

Police also confirmed a final text message sent from Henrietta's mobile to their landlady at the same time they went missing, 2.12am on January 7.

The text said that they would not be returning to the flat. The phone was then disconnected from the network and hasn't been active since.

The following day, the pair's personal belongings were found in the flat and the landlady went to the police with her concerns.

Superintendent David Howieson said: "We have carried out a significant trawl of public and private CCTV footage as we try to establish the sisters’ movements.

"Several hours of footage are being examined by a dedicated team of officers and we have so far established that Eliza and Henrietta were at the footpath next to the River Dee at 2.50pm on Monday, 6 January, 2025. 

"Although the sisters didn't engage with anyone else at this time, the area would have been busy and we are keen to speak to anyone who may have seen them.

"Please think back, did you notice anyone matching their description? 

“After returning home, there is nothing to indicate that Eliza or Henrietta left their flat again until shortly before they were last seen at the River Dee.

“Extensive enquiries are ongoing and I would again stress there is nothing to suggest any suspicious circumstances or criminality.”
