FSAI issues urgent recall of chicken products sold in supermarkets across Ireland

Consumers and retailers are advised to exercise caution as batches of Nora Salmon Roe are being recalled.

The FSAI has since requested that retailers remove the implicated batch from sale. In addition, they are to display recall notices at the point of sale.

Consumers who have purchased the product are strongly advised not to consume the affected batch.

The implicated batch comes in a 100 g-sized jar and has a code of L4074 and a best-before date of 14/09/2025.

Just earlier this week, the FSAI issued a recall of a batch of Roma Formaggio da Pasta due to the possible presence of mould.

The batch originated from the Netherlands and had a best-before date of 21/032025.

Similar to the Nora Salmon Roe batches, retailers were requested to remove the implicated batch from sale and display notices at point-of-sale, while wholesalers and distributors were requested to contact affected customers and recall the patch, per Extra.ie.

At the start of the year, the FSAI reported an upward trend of complaints over the past decade, with almost 4,400 complaints made to their Advice Line in 2023.

This figure was an increase of 8% from 2022. 4,395 complaints were made by consumers, up from 4,058 in 2022.

It marked a continuation of an upward trend over the past decade, with complaints most commonly relating to poor hygiene standards (31.9%), unfit food (27.2%), and suspected food poisoning (26.7%).

The FSAI further confirmed that poor hygiene standards were the most frequently reported issue in 2023, with complaints ranging from unclean toilets to staff failing to cover their hair during food preparation.

Other complaints included staff members handling food and cash with the same gloves, bins overflowing and dirty fridges.
