Makes sense really.

At the beginning of a new relationships, you go through what’s known as the honeymoon period. That time when you’re getting to know each other fully and on your best behaviour around them. It’s also a very fun and exciting time.

Unfortunately, that does come to an end, but that’s not to say it will ruin the relationship it’s just the next step. But how long does it last?

According to a recent survey, the honeymoon period lasts for 13 months and seven days. 2,000 couples were surveyed and this was the average length of time.

Getting too comfortable around each other, the initial excitement wearing off and just knowing each better other are the top three reasons for the honeymoon period ending.

Three in 10 people blame sheer laziness as a romance killer, with women admitting they’re more likely to stop putting as much effort in as men.

Not bothering to look good for your partner, bickering more often and a dip in sex lives were voted the top three tell-tale signs the honeymoon is over.

But it’s not all bad news, 7 in 10 believe the spark can be rekindled after the initial burn out. Listening to each other more was voted the best way to reignite the magic, followed by a romantic holiday and more date nights.

Either way, it’s always important to work at your relationships regardless of whether or not it’s a new one.
