We are counting down the days to the next saga of the famous ‘Bourne’ series, ‘The Bourne Legacy’.

And starring actor Edward Norton promises us we will not be disappointed. The 42-year-old actor, who plays the antagonist Eric Byer in the upcoming ‘The Bourne Legacy’, believes the Tony Gilroy-written film franchise is much more than just a film.

Norton said he thinks the film series is much more realistic than its rival action films ‘Mission: Impossible’ and the James Bond series.

“I think they’ve always pulled a little more from the authentic reality of what we glimpse in the headlines,” Norton said.

“You’ve got sort of like the ‘Mission: Impossible’ or James Bond, which I would call more in the fantasy superhero genre. Nobody was ever going to climb a building in gecko gloves, or parachute in a car out of a plane. They were always much more lo-fi.”

Norton said he believes the ‘Bourne’ films are far more realistic on many of society’s levels, especially when it comes to portraying how the government actually functions. He told Digital Spy that the director Tony Gilroy has taken the series to another level.

“Tony’s gone even one step further in this one, in the sense that he’s opened it up to start to include government-based science. He’s really starting to exfoliate the way the matrix of government, science, corporations and military comes together. Tony kind of peeks behind the curtain and shows us what that’s like inside.”

The upcoming ‘Bourne’ film is based on research the director undertook on the section of the US Department of Defence that is responsible for developing new military technology.

‘The Bourne Legacy’ opens in cinemas on August 13th.
