Another myth bites the dust.

Sex is a topic that is shrouded in myth – probably because what we admit to and what actually goes on under the covers are two very different things.

Legend would have it that our sexual appetites decrease as we get older.

However, in a recent survey conducted by dating site mysinglefriend.com, it was revealed that the older we get, the more value we place on sex and sexual compatibility.

According to the results: “Daters over the age of 55 were most likely to cite sexual compatibility as a dating deal breaker, with over half of those questioned saying it was paramount to any new relationship.”

Fifty per cent of 45 to 54-year-olds surveyed said that sexual compatibility was their top priority, while only 37 per cent of 16 to 24 year olds agreed.

Speaking about the results, TV personality Sarah Beeny said: “People may assume that our libido drops off with age, this survey reveals that that is far from the case.

“As we get older, we know more clearly what we are looking for in a potential partner and it seems good sex becomes more of a dating deal breaker.”

We’ve got a few years in us yet, ladies.
