It’s amazing how one snap(chat) decision can completely mess up your life.

Earlier this week, we reported on how Dani Mathers, 2015’s ‘Playmate of the Year’, was working out at her local gym when she secretly photographed a naked woman in the shower. The American model proceeded to poke fun at the older woman’s body when she shared the image on Snapchat.

Mathers sparked outrage when she snapped the nude woman, who was innocently showering with the caption: “If I can’t unsee this then you can’t either” followed by a picture of her shocked face.

Mathers has since posted a video apology on Snapchat, saying that she “loves the female body and that body shaming is wrong. That’s now what I’m about, that’s not the type of person I am”.

She added that the picture was publicly posted by accident, and that it taken “as part of a private conversation with a girlfriend”, blaming her mistake on being “new to Snapchat”.

However, this weekend, it’s being reported that Mathers is suffering more serious repercussions from her actions than just outrage online.

First up, TMZ is reporting that the 29-year-old has been indefinitely suspended from her regular slot on a Los Angeles radio show called ‘The Heidi and Frank Show’.

What’s more, it appears that the gym where the picture was taken, LA Fitness, has reported the incident to the police for violating the woman’s right to privacy. It’s not entirely certain if Mathers will face charges for the incident, seeing as the woman in question – named ‘Jane Doe’ in the police report – has yet to come forward.

On top of all that, LA Fitness has banned the model from all its branches. A spokesperson said that Mathers “is not permitted back at any club, ever”, and that “her behaviour is appalling and puts every member’s privacy at risk.”

Mathers has deleted all her social media channels, and in one of her final tweets, wrote:

“I need to take some time to myself to now to reflect on why I did this horrible thing.”

It’s a very painful lesson on social media etiquette that everyone can learn from.
