IN PICTURES: What Happens in Ireland When the Sun Shines

Bravo, one and all.

Rebecca McKnight

Necessity is the mother of invention. Make hay while the sun shines. Basically, just pick your favourite proverb and it probably applies to summer in Ireland. While that golden ball of happiness hangs around in the sky, we’re on the annual mad scramble to make the most of it before it disappears again. Some of us are better at such inventiveness than others. These guys = legends.

Feel free to send us your snaps too, you’ll find us at [email protected]!

It’s an oldie but a goodie as far as makeshift pools are concerned. Tara Breen credits her brother-in-law Rob for this one…

Richard O’Flynn took advantage of the fine weather to “plant and water some tulips he had lying around”.

The winner of this round, however, has to be Laura Swan. Laura sent a selection of pictures from her homemade pool, located in a silage trailer. Epic.
