Game of Thrones to Wrap Up After Season Seven or Eight?!

Savour the episodes while you can!

We’ve been waiting a long time for season four of Game of Thrones to hit our TV screens but it seems that its creators are already discussing when they’re to end the series.

In the latest issue of Vanity Fair, editor Jim Windolf spoke to co-creators of the TV show David Benioff and DB Weiss along with author George RR Martin about the series and when it may come to a close.

Agreeing that the TV series is indeed catching up with the books, Martin told the magazine that the speed at which the show is moving was “alarming”.

“I can give them the broad strokes of what I intend to write, but the details aren’t there yet. I’m hopeful that I can not let them catch up with me” he said.

Benioff and Weiss told the magazine that they would prefer to wrap up the fantasy series  after seven or eight seasons.

“It doesn’t just keep on going because it can,” said Weiss. “I think the desire to milk more out of it is what would eventually kill it, if we gave in to that.”

One of the problems with the series is that because of the vastness of the books, the characters remain pretty much the same age throughout – however the child stars like Maisie Williams (Arya Stark),  are growing up in real life.

So looks like we may have only 50 or so more episodes to savour in the next few years. Bring it on.
