The death of renowned poet, author, actress, director and activist, Maya Angelou, was announced yesterday and tributes for the 86-year-old have poured in from across the globe.
Houston’s Fox 26 was reporting on her passing when they pointed out the very obvious last night.
A banner announcing the death of Maya Angelou also flagged the subsequent cancellation of her expected public appearance in the city Friday May 30th.
Angelou was scheduled to attend the MLB Beacon Awards Luncheon in Houston.
As most media outlets reflected on her incredible work and eulogies, Fox 26 decided to highlight something else entirely.
The news broadcast caused an uproar on social media and this screen grab of the piece soon began to circulate online.
