Blind doggo gets a friend to be his companion and to fight off other mean dogs

Olivia Hayes

We’re sobbing.

During the week, we heard the story about the hearing-impaired man who adopted a deaf puppy and taught him sign language.

Yeah, we were balling at that too.

This story includes a blind dog who now has a new best friend. Amos is a blind Staffy who was adopted by Jess, his owner in Cheshire last year.

Amos has a mate and a guide dog called Toby, and the two of them have become great pals even though Toby was a bit wary of Amos at first.

But now, Toby walks Amos around the place, takes him to his water and food and even fights off mean dogs.

Jess has had Toby for nine years, but adopted Amos last year when he was born at the dogs’ home.

She told Pretty52 that Toby was a present for her 18th birthday: “Toby was the best present I ever got. He is very independent, and he likes his own space so we were a bit concerned to see how accepting he would be of Amos.

“I thought it would be very difficult to find an owner and while Amos was on medical care for four months, we decided to foster him in February last year but after a while we realised we would never give him back.”

“At the beginning Toby growled at him a few times and then ignored him – Amos came from a kennel so doesn’t know how to socialise with other dogs.” However, she added: “Toby nudged him and helped him out.”

We. Can’t. Deal. You can see Toby and Amos here.
