Batten Down the Hatches, Met Éireann Issues Red Weather Warning

The bad weather will continue today...

Rebecca McKnight

We know you’re tired of hearing it but Met Éireann have issued another weather warning, this time a red status.

The forecaster has predicted another day of cold temperatures, very strong winds and heavy showers.

Frost is expected this morning only to be replaced by heavy and possibly thundery showers throughout the course of the day which means there is also a risk of spot flooding.

Sleet and snow is a possibility in more northern areas with strong gusts expected for Munster, south Connacht and south Leinster.

This cold and windy weather will continue into this evening with a mixture of clear patches as well as hail and sleet showers.

Top temperatures will be around 5 to 8 degrees Celsius but are due to drop later tonight with lowest temperatures between -1 to 2 degrees Celsius.
