Tired of Tinder? Well we could have just the answer for you – the knit your own boyfriend project.
Artist Noortje de Keijzer manufactured her own boyfriend with her project My Knitted Boyfriend. The knitted art piece serves as a cushion to kiss, hug and cuddle – replacing the loneliness of single life in every day situations with a woolly friend.
Speaking about the project, Keijzer said:
“It’s the ordinary moments in which you can feel really lonely sometimes. This is why I came up with ‘My Knitted Boyfriend’. He’s around at home in the ordinary moments of your day-to-day life.”
Wanting to make the subject of loneliness less taboo, the artist told the Huffington Post:
“I guess this project was a way for me to transfer my own emotions and experiences into something I could laugh about. It was a bit of a therapeutic project for me. The fact that I reached so many people is just a nice extra.”
She also happened to make a short film about her adventures with her knitted friend.
