Hugs
There’s nothing we love more than a big hug after a tough day in the office, and getting close to your partner by remembering to hug each other – not just for comfort – is key. Snuggle up on the couch too while you’re watching your favourite box set.
Talk it out
At the early stages of a relationship, you and your partner can talk and talk for hours as you get to know each other. However, this quickly falls by the wayside as life takes over. Be sure to set aside some quality time for a proper catch-up with your loved one – and take an interest in how their day was.
Kiss
It might sound obvious, but again, kissing is something that is often forgotten about once the relationship enters a mature stage. And we’re not just talking about a quick peck on the cheek – cosy up for a full-on snog. Or shift. Or whatever you'd like to call it.
Compromise
Be willing to compromise in the relationship as it will help things to go smoother and make for less arguments in the long run. It is important to listen to your partner and work together as a team.
Have fun!
Remember that you are together for a reason. Be sure to bring some fun back into your lives – it doesn’t all have to be about work and bills. Take some time together to enjoy day trips, evenings out or even just playing a silly game.
Not in the mood?
Try to make time under the covers. Tiredness, stress and pressure at work can often leave a lot of us feeling like we don’t have the energy for sex. However, intimacy between the two of you is vital. You can find out more about loss in libido here.
Forgive
And forget. Don’t hold a grudge with your partner. Forget the smaller things that he/she may have done to annoy you and instead embrace all the good things they do.
Stand up
Don’t be afraid to stand up for what you believe in and in that respect, you shouldn’t be afraid to argue. Be honest and truthful about how you feel – it will clear the air a lot quicker and will help you to get back on track.
