Canada’s Target store have come under fire for stocking sexist his’n’hers matching pyjama sets for toddlers.

The onesie designed for young boys comes in blue and grey, and is decorated with a Superman logo above the words ‘Future man of steel’.

The little girl’s equivalent set is a similar all-in-one, but only available in pink wit the slogan “I only date heroes”.

The images were tweeted by a professor and mum of two children, who were shocked to see there was no other options available to buy for little girls:

Not cool. Have a boy & girl. Both are Super @digiwonk:Boys can be heroes; girls can date heroes. #target #sexism pic.twitter.com/WrSb71caA1

When the store manager was approached about the onesies, parents were told the outfits were “cute”.

One mum Aimee told the Huffington Post:

“It’s not like the boys’ onesie said ‘I’m going to date supergirl some day,’ and the girls’ said ‘I’m going to date superboy someday’.

“When you put the two together, it actually says a lot about how we socialize boys and girls to think of what their future holds for them, where they get their power in the world.”

Target have yet to make an official comment on the clothing, whose images have now gone viral online.
