Does your dad collect you at 4am when you are stranded with no taxi? Does he stand on the side of the pitch in the pouring rain to cheer you on in a friendly game? Does he inspire you by well, just being him?!
Now, are you too broke to buy him a Father’s Day present? If so, the good news is that you don’t need money and can go the sentimental route and nominate him for a special award?! Nominate your amazing dad for Dad of the Year in the 2013 People of the Year Awards, in association with 2fm’s Breakfast with Hector show. It’ll cost you nothing but a declaration of how fantastic your dad is! But do it today because nominations close on Friday 14 June!
Ireland’s ‘Dad of the Year’ can be of any age, from any walk of life and from any part of Ireland but there is just one criteria – he must have done something really extraordinary as a father to be considered! We want children, siblings, partners, parents, and friends all over the country to nominate heroic dads that deserve some national recognition at the 2013 People of the Year Awards!
2FM presenter Hector Ó hEochagáin says: “Move over mammies, it’s time for the Dads to steal the limelight! We want to hear what makes your Dad so special. There are Dads up and down the country doing unbelievable things for their families’ every day of the year. They could be doing the simplest stuff but in really hard circumstances or they could be achieving the most amazing things that would make your hair stand on end.”
To nominate a Dad simply log onto www.peopleoftheyear.com or email [email protected]. Your nomination will be considered by a special People of the Year Awards adjudication panel and will be announced live on RTÉ 1 on Saturday, 14th September.
Nominations for all other categories of the People of the Year Awards also close on Friday 14 June: International Person of the Year, Young Person of the Year, Community Group of the Year, and Sports Person of the Year now open.
