No matter how busy your days might be, if you have the joy of children in your life it’s always worth it to put some time aside for activities the whole family can enjoy. We’ve got five great suggestions for you this week, to get you started down the road to lots of family fun!
A World of Pure Imagination
Any parent knows that a love of books is one of the greatest gifts you can ever give your children. Encourage and foster this love by signing your children up to take part in this year’s MS READaTHON. Still going strong, we have such fond memories of this event from our own schooldays. Plus it encourages children to think charitably and act for others in a giving and caring way. Win!
Animal Magic
We love Dublin Zoo, and chances are if you have children you’ll have taken them there already. But, have you been to The Dead Zoo?! The natural history museum on Merrion Street in Dublin is a ‘cabinet-style’ museum designed to show a wide-ranging zoological collection that will leave small ones wide-eyed in wonder, and the remarkable set-up has changed little in over a century. It’s a real step back in time and it will leave your small ones wonderstruck.
Kids Cook Dinner
Remember when you were younger and mum letting you ‘help’ with the cooking or ironing was such a thrill?! Not so much fun now, but it’s still fun for your little ones. Choose a simple recipe and let them help in making dinner in such a way that they feel like they’re doing all the work, even though it’s all under your steady eye. Older children can obviously have more to do, but everyone can be made to feel involved. You’ll never see the plates cleaned quite so fast.
Make a Photo Album
Now that we all take pictures on digital cameras and phones, too many precious memories live only on SIM cards and hard drives. Sit down as a family and let everyone pick a few pictures they want to print, then take a trip together to purchase an album or a display board so those souvenirs of fun days out live on your walls and make you smile every day.
Home Sports Day
Ditch the technology for a day and get outside. A game of football or tennis in this brisk weather will be enough to put a rosy glow on any cheeks. It’s good for the body and the brain, and you’ll all sleep like a dream after working up a sweat!
