GB News and former politician Nigel Farage is to be exempt from some of the bushtucker trials on ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Here!’.
The former leader of the Brexit party entered the Australian jungle last night after undergoing a series of challenges with This Morning’s Josie Gibson and YouTuber Nella Rose.
The trio landed in the Australian outback to earn their fellow contestants on the Gold Coast more time to earn stars in their trials to win meals for camp.
Meanwhile, their fellow contestants were tasked with more extreme trials such as skydiving and height challenges before all campmates met later in the jungle.
It is being reported that there is a valid reason as to why Farage will be unable to compete with some of the more major challenges on the survival reality show.
ITV bosses signed the former politician on the basis that he won’t be able to take part in challenges where there is weightlifting.
This is due to Farage suffering a serious injury 13 years ago when his light aircraft, which was towing a banner, accidentally wrapped around the tail and rudder, and nosedived to the ground.
This resulted in the broadcaster having a major spinal operation and neck reconstruction, while also being in a leg cast for a year.
As well as this injury, he was also involved in a road accident 38 years ago after he was hit by a Volkswagen Beetle while on a pelican crossing.
Ahead of entering the jungle, Farage told The Mirror: “Anything involving weightlifting, I’d be out. I’ve obviously had some quite serious physical injuries and neck reconstructions, and goodness knows what else.”
“So they are fully aware that I’m a little bit damaged when it comes to bodily structure. But having said that, I can still do most things.
“I doubt any of the trials are actually going to kill me, although I don’t think they’ll all be a bag of fun but look, I signed up for this. It’s in for a penny in for a pound. So let’s go.”
Tonight, the first bush tucker trial of the series gets underway.
Farage and YouTuber Nella Rose have been chosen by the public to take part in ‘The Jungle Pizzeria’, a dreaded eating challenge.
