Following the success of Fool Me Once, which starred Michelle Keegan, the latest of Coben’s novels to be transformed into a series by the streaming giant is Missing You.
A number of the author’s top-selling novels are set to be transformed into series with another drama, Run Away, already in the works.
The 62-year-old author labelled Missing You as his ‘most gripping’ drama so far.
Netflix executives announced the news on social media, writing: "Nothing burns like an old flame... and your new year's plans just got a lot hotter @harlancoben's MISSING YOU debuts on 1 January, only on Netflix."
The novel, which was first published in March 2014, is a thriller centred around the connections we maintain with our past.
The series summary states: “Eleven years ago Detective Kat Donovan’s fiancé Josh, the love of her life, disappeared and she’s never heard from him since.
“Now, swiping profiles on a dating app, she suddenly sees his face and her world explodes all over again.
“Josh's reappearance will force her to dive back into the mystery surrounding her father's murder and uncover long-buried secrets from her past."
Speaking to Digital Spy when the series was first announced Coben said: “I think it may be my most gripping, and the ending will not only surprise you. In fact, I recently re-watched it, I was completely fooled by the ending and I wrote it. But I think you'll genuinely be moved. Tell me if you shed a tear at the last episode of Missing You.”
Jessica Plummer, Richard Armitage, Ashley Walters and Sir Lenny Henry appear in the star-studded cast.
Missing You follows the success of Coben and Netflix’s other collaborations, Stay Close, Fool Me Once, and The Stranger.
Fool Me Once, which was released last year, has been his most successful project so far, topping the Netflix most-watched chart worldwide and winning numerous awards.
