‘I’m A Celeb’ apologises for liking an offensive comment about Nella Rose

‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’ has issued an apology after ‘accidentally’ liking a negative comment about one of their celebrity campmates.

The ‘offensive’ and now-deleted comment, which the ITV reality show says they liked by accident while scrolling through comments, was believed to have been about Nella Rose.

The show has now clarified what happened and offered their apologies, as well as asking viewers of ‘I’m A Celeb’ to be ‘kind’.

“Yesterday we accidentally liked a comment on Instagram while scrolling down through viewer comments,” the post begins.

“The post in question contained unacceptable language about one of our campmates and we apologise for the mistake made and any offence caused.

“We seek to champion all our campmates and would always urge our audience to be kind when commenting on social media.”

While many believe that the apology was unnecessary, others have taken the opportunity to highlight the issue of trolling towards the YouTube star throughout her time on the show.

“A lot of these comments are beyond hateful. People need to remember it’s a TV show, we see a 1hr edited portion of 24hrs. It’s not that deep, not enough to be this hateful,” one wrote under the show’s post on Insatgram.

“Everyone in these comments are disgusting yes she may have upset Fred but you can all cry about it fred is a grown man who can deal with himself the things that have been said about Nella are horrible she deserves so much better,” another urged.

“All the people hating on Nella and being excessively vocal about it are a joke. You wanted her gone from day one just because she was screaming. Quit pretending like this is just about things she’s said and done in camp. There’s been far worse celebrities in that jungle who never got such a reaction out of people,” one user wrote.

“I really think some people need to calm down and remember to be kind, your words have weight and you don’t know anyone who’s participating personally. Anyone remember when the whole country believed in #BeKind and use your presence online for good??

“I’m not condoning anyone’s actions but some of these comments are actually horrible to read. This show brings joy, but it is just a show. People need to calm down and go outdoors get some fresh air and regain their humanity,” a fourth added.
