Helen George ended her marriage earlier this year
‘Call the Midwife’ actress, Helen George, has split from her husband and former co-star Jack Ashton.
The couple reportedly ended their marriage during the summer, according to OK.
They met on the set of the BBC drama series and share two daughters.
Helen confirmed their separation to The Mirror. In a statement, the actress stressed that their daughters will always be their main priority.
“Some months ago, we separated. Our two beautiful girls remain the focus and I respectfully ask for privacy for this next chapter,” she shared.
The actress has been leaning on her ‘Call the Midwife’ co-star and friend, Olly Rix, for support. The actor, who plays her on-screen husband, also recently went through a breakup so understands what the actress is going through.
A source told MailOnline that both actors have had an incredibly tough year.
“It’s been a tricky year for both Helen and Olly. They have been spending a lot of time together on set, walking their dogs together, and chatting a lot.
“They both have respect for each other as actors and they are supportive of each other and dedicated to their roles in the drama. The changes in their relationships have caused a lot of upheaval.”
Helen’s spokesperson stressed that she is just friends with Olly after reports claimed she had spent time at his London home.
Her representative said: “Yes, she went to visit a friend for a cup of tea – like all friends do – and as we have always said, there is nothing more to this.”
Helen George met Jack Ashton on the set of Call the Midwife in 2016.
The former couple welcomed their first child, a daughter named Wren Ivy, in September 2017.
Their second child, another baby girl named Lark, was born in November 2021.
