Amanda Abbington quit Strictly Come Dancing for ‘personal reasons’

Former Strictly Come Dancing star Amanda Abbington is reportedly suffering from PTSD after her experience on the show.

The actress is reportedly requesting footage from her rehearsals with professional dancer Giovanni Pernice.

The actress believes the footage will lift the lid on what goes on behind the scenes on the BBC dance show.

An insider told The Sun that she found the experience on the show extremely shocking.

“The BBC have received a request for the footage they hold of Amanda and Giovanni. It is known as a data subject access request.

She reportedly found the training very tense.

“There is a feeling that the recordings will lift the lid on what really goes on behind the scenes on Strictly. Things in rehearsals can become very tense. Giovanni is a perfectionist and he can be incredibly full-on.

“Amanda has been left broken and saddened by the whole experience,” the source said.

The actress reportedly needed therapy and was shocked by “the behaviour she was exposed to”.

She said leaving Strictly was a deep regret, but she had to leave for personal reasons.

“It was an absolute joy working with my fellow contestants, they are a beautiful, hardworking, and talented group of people who I love and who I will miss seeing every Friday and Saturday and competing alongside.”

Despite her negative experience, Amanda praised the Strictly cast and her production crew.

“It’s a wonderful bunch of people and I’ll miss all of them. I’m so sad that I am unable to go any further,” she wrote at the time.
