Vin Diesel has credited his latest role for helping him cope with the death of close friend and Fast and Furious co-star Paul Walker.
When taking part in a question and answer Facebook session for fans this week, Vin explained how he dealt with the grief of losing Paul, who died in a tragic car accident on November 30, 2013.
Forty six-year-old Vin said that playing the part of Groot in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy was “therapeutic”.
The tree monster can only say “I am Groot” and he had to use the phrase in lots of different ways to explain how Groot was feeling.
The character of Groot helped Vin deal with the loss of Paul
According to the Daily Mail, Vin answered a fan’s question writing: “It was the month after the accident happened with my brother Paul Walker and it was the first time I had worked since.
“Although it was challenging, just to get back to work was therapeutic, especially as Groot. There was an innocence about the character that was just refreshing, and it may have been more challenging under other circumstances, but at that time, it was very therapeutic”.
In addition to Guardians of the Galaxy, Vin is also working on The Fast and Furious 7 which had stopped filming after Paul’s death.
Producers recently decided to resume work on the film. They have used both computer generated images of Paul’s face and his brothers have also filmed scenes for the film.
Guardians Of The Galaxy is to be released on July 31 while Fast & Furious 7 is scheduled for release on April 10, 2015.
