Taylor Swift is going to have to get her thinking cap on
Her boyfriend’s team, the Kansas City Chiefs, defeated the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday night to win the AFC championship and secure a spot in the Super Bowl – which sounds incredible right?
There’s one issue with this incredible achievement…Taylor is set to wrap up the last of four performances at the Tokyo Dome on Saturday, February 10th – the night before the Super Bowl kicks off in Las Vegas, at 6.30 pm ET/3.30 pm PT.
If you haven’t noticed already, the singer has become a regular feature at Chief’s games now, often spotted cheering on her other half from the stands.
So, no doubt she will want to be at the biggest game of the football season to support Travis, but how can she swing it from the other side of the globe?
It can be done thanks to a combination of timezones and one of Taylor’s reported two private jets.
Now it’s time for a bit of quick maths to figure out how and though I’m not great with numbers, I am a dedicated Swiftie.
Taylor’s show is scheduled to kick off at 6 pm in Japan and if she sticks with her usual routine, the concert will last for three hours and 15 minutes.
So when she leaves the stage the 34-year-old will have two options of airport that she can leave via.
Haneda is roughly a 30-minute drive from the Tokyo Dome but requires special permission and Narita is about an hour’s drive.
According to Kevin O’Leary, the president and CEO of Jet Advisors, she won’t be jetting off straight away when she reaches the airport.
“There will be some logistics [and] clearances before the flight will be allowed to depart,” Kevin wrote. “With either airport, the flight should be able to depart Japan within 2 hours of the end of [the] concert.”
That puts her potential departure time around 11:30 Saturday night local time, or 6:30 Saturday morning Vegas time.
It’s likely that out of her two planes, a Dassault Falcon 7X and a Dassault Falcon 900, she’ll take the 7X as it can fly over longer distance without needing a refuel according to The Athletic.
When you consider that the flight from Tokyo to Las Vegas can be over 12 hours long it makes sense.
It could take longer though due to the high volume of air traffic expected as people fly to America to watch the Super Bowl, no to mention possible weather disruptions.
If all things go to plan Taylor can expect to arrive in Las Vegas sometime between 4.30 and 6.30 p.m. PT on Saturday, Februrary 10th thanks to the time change.
This leaves plenty of time for the singer to slip on her Chiefs jacket ahead of the game.
Though she will be there on time it won’t be without a high price tag both money wise and in CO2 emissions.
Kevin estimates that the trip will cost roughly $45,000 (over €41,500) and will generate more than 87,000 pounds of carbon dioxide according to a calculator from Paramount Business Jets.
