Ryan Tubridy has shared an insight into his ‘wonderful life’ with his new girlfriend, Dr Clare Kambamettu.

The former Late Late host praised his new partner for being like a beacon ‘in a sea of doubt’.

Tubridy also shared that Dr Clare, a clinical psychologist, shares in his excitement about landing a new role in London at Virgin Radio, which he will begin in January 2024.

The couple’s relationship was revealed by the Irish Daily Mirror, with the broadcaster saying his girlfriend has been a place of refuge of the last number of months.

“If I can be a master of understatement here, I’ll say that the last few months have been intense and I was lucky here and there – and Clare was certainly one of those lucky moments.”

After Chris Evans introduced and announced Tubridy’s new show on Virgin Radio, the presenter expressed his excitement to take on his new role, while also complimenting Dr Clare for her unwavering support.

“We’re playing senior hurling now, you know – it’s a real dream come true.

“She’s [Clare] all over this. I don’t need Chris Evans to show me around. Yeah, she’s got this covered. She’s wonderful.”

Clare was crowned Rose of Tralee in 2010 after contesting as the London Rose.

Tubridy revealed that since the news broke of his new high-profile radio gig, his two daughters, Ella and Julia, have also been his biggest supporters and he is already planning for their visits to London.

“My girls are the least demanding young women you’ve ever met – they’re just beautiful souls. And their excitement has been so nicely placed. It was firstly for their da, and secondly for the fun we’re going to have together.

“I love the museums here, the culture, the parks, even looking out to the skyscape here at the Shard, the Gherkin, you know if you’re bored of London you’re a fool. I’m going to rent, I want to find a nice apartment or something like that, with room for the girls. That’s the plan.”

Meanwhile, support also came from surprising corners of the industry, as many reached out to congratulate him.

“I can’t remember the last time my phone exploded this much,” Tubridy revealed.

“There are so many messages from well-wishers, and some from people I haven’t heard from for a long time. I think people are relieved for me. They’re happy for me. I think people felt there was a bit of injustice in the air and it was time to have a go at fairness.”

The broadcaster added that he has always had a ‘small dream’ to pursue a career in the UK, and may not have done so without the change in ‘circumstances’ in his life this year.
