Max George and Maisie Smith have been together since 2022

The couple, who first got together in 2022, have not posted on their social media accounts in over six weeks.

Their online silence has sparked concern amongst their fans, but others believe they're just taking a break from the spotlight.

The pair's relationship has been hit with waves of backlash because of their controversial age difference.

There are 13 years between them but Max and Maisie didn't let the public backlash stop them from pursuing their romance.

Maisie said the only people who seem to be bothered by their age gap are trolls online.

Her own family didn't even have an issue with it.

Maisie said people don't realise what goes on behind close doors, but the public will always find something to give out about.

She told Fabulous that she and Max were so incredibly happy.

"If it wasn't that, it would be something else. People don't understand what goes on behind closed doors in a relationship, and I think they also forget that I'm a consenting 21-year-old woman who's actually been working longer than Max.

"I don't notice the age difference and neither do my friends or family. My mum Julia is the one who reads through all the comments. I got a message from her yesterday, saying: 'Just ignore them, you two were made for each other," Maisie stressed.

Max was previously involved with Stacey Giggs, but she claims he had an affair with Maisie.

The pair went public with their relationship shortly after he broke up with Stacey.

"Max cheated on me with Maisie. I asked him about her but he denied anything had happened," Stacey said.
