Katie Piper has lost over a stone in weight following complications from a routine surgery.
The television presenter and activist was badly injured in an acid attack in 2008 and recently underwent surgery to remove scar tissue from her throat.
However, the star was subsequently readmitted to hospital due to complications and has revealed that she has experienced extreme weight loss in the weeks since the operation.
“I went in for a routine operation to remove scar tissue from my attack but there were complications. I was discharged but started to deteriorate,” she told The Mirror.
“It’s been very painful and I’ve lost a stone in 15 days so I had to come in and be monitored.”
As a result of her illness, Piper was forced to celebrate her daughter’s first birthday in hospital and cancel work commitments but took to Twitter to reassure fans that she is getting the right treatment.
So sorry to have 2pull out of tonight, I am incredibly frustrated as I hate it when my injuries get in way of everyday life. I’m very ill
