Coronation Street Actress Claire King Claims Facelift Saved Her Career

The soap star revealed all in an interview with Hello! magazine.

Coronation Street actress Claire King has claimed having a facelift has saved her acting career.

The 52-year old actress has admitted that as she approached her 50th birthday, she found herself struggling to find work and decided to have cosmetic surgery.

Speaking to Hello! Magazine, the soap star said:

“I felt so low and unsure of myself that I didn’t want to leave the house. Sometimes I couldn’t even afford to – I didn’t have enough money to fill the car with petrol.

“It was the most vulnerable time of my life. It felt as if my industry didn’t want me anymore, it hit me in the heart.”

The actress, who has had starring roles in Emmerdale, Bad Girls and now as Erica Holroyd on Coronation Street says she decided to opt for the suspension facelift after appearing on Sky Living’s Stitch Me, Lift Me, Tuck Me in 2013.

Speaking to Hello! Magazine, Claire said the chance to audition for Corrie was her life-changing moment:

“When I was invited to audition for Coronation Street, my heart leapt. But there were some big names up for the part and although I desperately wanted it, I promised myself there and then that if I didn’t get it, I would give up the job I loved – I would quit acting.”

Claire has since confirmed that her Corrie contract has been renewed, and she will appear on the soap until at least early next year.
