Met Eireann publish four separate weather warnings ahead of brutal conditions

Met Eireann has published four separate weather warnings today, spanning across Tuesday and Wednesday, as brutal conditions approach.

According to the daily forecast, today will be wet and breezy, with fresh to strong and gusty southwesterly winds extending to all areas.

These winds with become very strong in western coastal areas this evening.

It’s going to be a generally dull day with rain and drizzle, turning heavy at times, and patches of mist.

There will be occasional drier and brighter periods in the afternoon, the best of these in the south.

Some areas are due to see more brutal conditions, in line with the latest warnings.

Status Yellow – Wind warning for West Galway, Kerry

Met Eireann warns “south to southwest winds will be very strong and gusty,” and that “spells of rain will be heavy and persistent at times, especially on hills and mountains”.

The potential impacts of this are:
Chance of falling branches/trees and loose debris blowing around
Difficult driving conditions

The warning is valid from 17:00 on Tuesday 19/09/2023 until 05:00 on Wednesday 20/09/2023

Status Yellow – Rain warning for Cavan, Donegal, Clare, Cork, Kerry, Limerick, Tipperary, Connacht

“Spells of rain will be heavy and persistent at times, especially on hills and mountains.”

Potential impacts:
Localised flooding
Travel disruption

Valid from 17:00 on Tuesday 19/09/2023 until 06:00 on Wednesday 20/09/2023

Status Yellow – Wind warning for Cork, Waterford, Wexford, Wicklow

“South to southwest winds will be very strong and gusty.”

Potential impacts:
Chance of falling branches/trees and loose debris blowing around
Difficult driving conditions

Status Yellow – Wind warning for Donegal, Mayo

“West to southwest winds will be very strong and gusty.”
