Iconic fashion designer Paco Rabanne has died aged 88.

The Spanish designer who was best known for his perfumes and clothing passed away in Portsall, France.

The official Paco Rabanne Instagram account confirmed the sad news on Friday.

The statement reads: “The House of Paco Rabanne wishes to honour our visionary designer and founder who passed away today at the age of 88.

“Among the most seminal fashion figures of the 20th century, his legacy will remain a constant source of inspiration.

“We are grateful to Monsieur Rabanne for establishing our avant-garde heritage and defining a future of limitless possibilities.”

Before finding huge success with his own fashion brand in 1966, Paco had worked with Givenchy, Dior and Balenciaga.

Puig, the parent company of his brands, also paid tribute to the late designer on social media.

Puig’s fashion president, José Manuel Albesa, said: “Who else could induce fashionable Parisian women to clamour for dresses made of plastic and metal.

“That radical, rebellious spirit set him apart: There is only one Rabanne.”
