Britney Spears’ dad Jamie has leg amputated after battling infection

Britney Spears’ dad, Jamie Spears, had to have his leg amputated recently, according to US reports.

The outlet reports that the 71-year-old’s amputation surgery took place last month.

Jamie Spears’ health update comes amid his ongoing estrangement from Britney, 42. 

The “Baby One More Time” singer spoke candidly about her strained relationship between her and her father in the memoir titled ‘The Woman in Me’.

The book hit shelves in Ireland back in October and went into detail about the controversial 13-year conservatorship hitting headlines across the globe.

In the memoir, Britney wrote: “The conservatorship stripped me of my womanhood, made me into a child. I became more of an entity than a person onstage. 

“I had always felt music in my bones and my blood; they stole that from me.”

The global superstar also spoke about a time when her father got physical with one of her sons.

She explained: “My son went to lock himself in a bedroom to end the fight, and my dad broke down the door and shook him,” wrote Britney.

“Kevin filed a police report, and my dad was barred from seeing the kids,” Britney also confirmed.

The book goes on to speak about her relationship with her sister, Jamie-Lynn and her mother Lynne - but all hope does not seem lost on those relationships.

Jamie Lynn spoke fondly of Britney during her short stint on I’m a Celebrity … Get Me Out of Here.

She told her campmates: “I think every family fights and has their stuff. But I talked to her before I came here and we love each other.”
