There is nothing worse than trying to spot your suitcase in a sea of identical baggage
Ryanair has put out a warning to flyers over the next few weeks as a number of coloured suitcases are causing issues at arrivals.
The budget airliner has said if you’re heading away with either black, navy or grey suitcases, it might be time to make them look a little bit more unique.
In a statement, Ryanair said: “Make it easier to spot your checked-in luggage on the carousel, especially if your luggage is black, navy or grey (like 99.9 per cent of the population).
“Add a colourful luggage tag or ribbon to the handle so that there’s no confusion on arrival.”
However, we recommend sticking with a baggage tag over a ribbon on the handle after a warning about this was issued a few months back.
Speaking to RSVP Live, John – a baggage handler at Dublin Airport – advised holidaymakers to remove the identifying ribbons often fastened onto luggage, as they can cause delays in your bags getting to the plane.
“Ribbons that people tie onto their suitcases to help identify them can cause issues with the bag being scanned in the baggage hall,” he said.
“If the bag can’t be scanned automatically it can end up in manual processing, which could mean your bag doesn’t make it to the flight.”
Officials from the airline also advised passengers to make a copy of their passports, driving licences and other documents they may need in case of an emergency situation.
Another piece of advice was to email copies of each document to yourself so you’re covered on all fronts.
