It's great news for travellers, as Aer Lingus has launched a new route to the US from Ireland.
The airline already flies to a host of destinations across the States from Ireland, including New York, Orlando and Boston.
However, Irish travellers now have the opportunity for another route direct from Dublin.
Aer Lingus will now fly directly to Raleigh-Durham International Airport in North Carolina from the Irish capital.
The first flight launched yesterday, Monday, 13 April, and is set to fly five times per week on Aer Lingus' A321XLR aircraft.
Aer Lingus is offering onward connections via Dublin for travellers from 10 UK airports. Travelling from Dublin to the US is advantageous, as people can take advantage of its pre-clearance facility, meaning you can do immigration ahead of landing stateside.
Aer Lingus chief executive officer Lynne Embleton said: "Our new route creates a direct connection between Ireland and the Raleigh-Durham region for the first time, making it even easier for customers to travel to Dublin and onwards to destinations across the UK and Europe.
"The Raleigh-Durham region is a hub for technology, innovation and research, and this additional connectivity to that region will allow the business and educational ties on both sides of the Atlantic to flourish."
