Calling all 2024 brides!
Rock My Wedding’s 2024 Wedding Trend Report forecasted that this year will be ‘the year of unconventional weddings and personalisation’.
This year will see more brides opting for colourful wedding gowns, as opposed to the traditional white, as well as reviving some wedding fashion from years gone by.
According to the editor of the Rock My Wedding report, Jennifer Read-Dominguez, says wedding attire will be more likely to reflect the bride’s ‘personal style’ with new and unique fashion trends tipped to take over the wedding space.
Coloured Wedding Gowns
The traditional white dress will be taking a bit of a backseat for some in 2024, as one trend that is expected to take off is the non-traditional wedding dress, aka coloured gowns.
With brides now open to other colours than white, tones such as champagne and blush are proving popular, as well as bolder shades like red and black.
This is allowing brides to let their personality shine true on their big day.
Drop-waist Dresses
Popular in the 1920s, the drop-waist wedding dress is set to make its comeback this year.
Even with modern alterations, this style will always have a slightly vintage feel to it and also features as an additional option for brides of certain body types, Jennifer explains.
“Low-rise waist lines are back and that includes drop-waist wedding dresses.
“Drop-waist gowns highlight the curves and elongate the torso, making them an ideal option for those with an hourglass shape or a shorter upper body.”
Bridal Separates
This is another versatile wedding fashion trend that has been growing for a while, and this report predicts they will remain a popular choice for brides this year, often as a second wedding look.
“With the growing trend of having multiple looks throughout your wedding day, we’re seeing a lot more brides opting for a two-piece bridal ensemble for the after-party.”
Lace
Intricate lace and embroidery is forecasted to be another trend that will grow in popularity for brides in 2024.
Delicate details can deliver an essence of romance and femininity to any wedding gown, whether it’s full lace or just subtle lace accents.
Lace has proven timeless when it comes to wedding fashion, so it comes as no surprise that the report foresees it to dominate this year for its modern yet minimalistic aesthetic.
Oversized Bows
Want to include a memorable focal point to your gown? Oversized bows are the way to go.
According to the report, the ever-sophisticated oversized bow makes its way into wedding fashion right off the catwalk.
Oversized bows are a memorable, stylish, and standout feature on any wedding dress, drawing attention to the back of a dress or to the neckline.
Short Veils
According to Jennifer, ‘Long, trailing cathedral trains are a thing of the past’.
Veils have always been a way to showcase a snippet of your style and personality, with short veils being no different.
They ooze elegance, and make the perfect bridal accessory as they can be designed in a variety of different ways to suit the taste of the bride.
“Nowadays, veils are fun accessories that express your individual style. There are so many kinds of mini veils you can choose from, including glittering tulle veils that are perfect for an afterparty or headband-veil combinations that are a bit more playful and interesting,” Jennifer adds.
