Thirteen years after a tragedy that shocked the world, the World Trade Centre reopened in New York today.
The building has been reconstructed as the single-tower One World Trade Centre or ‘Freedom Tower’ and will become the global headquarters of publishing giant Condé Nast.
Over 170 of the company’s staff moved into the building today, with a further 3,000 to be based over 24 floors at the facility, and other tenants are also expected to move into the 1,776ft structure.
It is understood that an observation deck for members of the public will also be opened.
Freedom Tower is now America’s tallest building and today’s opening marks an emotional milestone, following the death of over 2.700 people in a terrorist attack at the site in 2001.
