A designer from Stockholm has decided to design an international flag representing planet Earth.
The proposal, from Oskar Pernefeldt, designed a flag with a blue background to represent that 70 per cent of the planet is covered in the ocean.
The main symbol across the front of the flag is a circle constructed of seven rings interlinked, in an effort to portray how the entire planet is linked and related. The rings themselves also form a circle to symbolise the earth spinning across the universe.
If the design proposal gets the seal of approval, the flag could be used for space missions, sporting events or international policy making.
