Irish Citizen Injured In Paris Attacks

The Department of Foreign Affairs has confirmed that one Irish citizen was injured in the attacks which took place in Paris last night.

Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade, Charlie Flanagan said:”There is no indication of any other Irish casualties at this time but as a precaution I have activated my Department’s Consular Response Centre, with an experienced consular team in place to assist any families or citizens who have concerns.

“In response to last night’s terrible events in Paris, Department officials in Paris and in Dublin have been working through the night to monitor the situation and provide consular assistance”.

It is believed that 127 people were killed in six separate attacks last night. Reports say that up to 99 people are  in a critical condition while up to 100 more are injured.

Vigils will take place in Dublin and Galway this evening to commemorate the victims of last night’s atrocities.
