The dad lost his wife and two daughters in a road accident in Mayo

David Bowden has paid a harrowing tribute to his wife and two daughters who sadly passed away following a road accident in Co. Mayo in March. The dad delivered a devastating tribute at their funeral on April 3rd.

His wife Una (47) and their daughters Ciara (14) and Saoirse (10) died instantly when their car collided with a fuel lorry on the N17 in Castlegar last Tuesday.

The Mayo accident shattered the hearts of their loved ones, but especially David’s.

David was preparing to travel home from Ethiopia when he heard of the heartbreaking accident.

Speaking at their funeral, the devastated dad said: “It is hard to put into words what the feeling is to lose your whole family in one go. I am crying so hard.

“The best is to hope and pray that they are at peace. They were all such beautiful girls who lived short, but such fun-filled lives.”

“That is how I would like to remember them,” he added.

David met his late wife Una in 2003 and they later married in 2007.

David praised his wife, whom he described as a “tough cookie” after she was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2018.

The heartbroken dad said she was a resilient woman and that is how she would be remembered.

The family had been renovating their home in Moycullen and were due to move in when the accident occurred.

David said: “Our two gorgeous girls were her world. She was my soulmate and my confidante. My world is so empty without her.”

We’re keeping David and his loved ones in our thoughts during this harrowing time.
